Jan Holmes was an archer in Leicestershire and Rutland, she was a founder member of Melton Mowbray Archery Club in May 1969, she then was also a member of LAOFAC and their club treasurer.

She first shot for the county in the early 1970’s and was a constant in the county team for many years, and by accounts written in early county newsletters had the “best forward release in the county”. As an aside the county year bars first started in 1970.

Jan died of cancer in the 1980’s and in her memory the “Jan Holmes Memorial Plate” was created, to reward services to archery in Leicestershire and Rutland.

If you wish to nominate someone in L&RCAA to receive this award, please email the county secretary secretary@lrcaa.org by 1st November, if more than one nomination is received a vote will take place at the L&RCAA Annual General Meeting. The Memorial Plate will then be awarded at the L&RCAA social evening.
